David Cavanaugh, MD
Dr. David A. Cavanaugh has been in private practice for over 20 years in Shreveport as a neurosurgeon since completing his residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center and his medical degree from the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.
He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, the American Board of Spine Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Cavanaugh has received honors that include the Trustees’ Distinguished Service Award by the Board of Trustees at Louisiana College for support of the college, his church and community and for his exemplary contributions in the field of medicine and the Community Service award from the Louisiana State Medical Society. Dr. Cavanaugh is also a contributing author for many neurosurgical publications, including Youman’s Neurosurgical Surgery, The Journal of Neurosurgery and Surgical Neurology.
Dr. Cavanaugh has served as the Chairman of ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation, an organization dedicated to the prevention of traumatic injuries among young people. He has spoken both nationally and internationally about this program that reaches over 500,000 young people a year, has had major influences on public policy initiatives, and continues to expand to reach those most vulnerable to traumatic injuries.
Dr. Cavanaugh’s hobbies include piano, scuba diving, golf, snow skiing and snowboarding, travel, and videography. He is married to Donna Burnley Cavanaugh, ThinkFirst State Director and Executive Director for the ArkLaTex Chapter.
Kandi Moore, RN, CNOR
Chief Executive Officer
Since opening our doors in July of 2007, Kandi Moore has acted as Specialists Hospital Shreveport’s Chief Executive Officer. Kandi began working the initial group of surgeons sixteen years ago and has helped grow the practice to a six man practice to a team of twenty three physicians focusing on the musculoskeletal system. She maintains great focus and tries to remain a step ahead in the ever changing health care landscape. Kandi works diligently with our physicians and looks forward to an expansion breaking ground in early 2015, allowing better service to our growing patient population. She also serves as the Vice President of Louisiana Hospital Association and is a Board member for the Caddo Levee District
Kandi and her husband, Rusty Moore are blessed to share a blended family with three sons, one daughter and five beautiful grandchildren.
M.V. Loftus, RN
Chief of Nursing
Since the doors opened at Specialists Hospital Shreveport in July 2007, M.V. Loftus has acted as Director of Nursing. A life-long resident of Shreveport, M.V. has dedicated years of service to our medical community and leads the clinical team at Specialists in promoting optimum patient safety and exceptional patient experience. When visiting Specialists Hospital Shreveport, you more than likely will see M.V.- she maintains a hands-on approach with the Specialists Staff and is always happy to assist patients and their loved ones. She is avid animal lover. She rescued and adopted, Bonnie and Clyde, two active, loving black labs.
Devin Jenkins, MHA, BSN
Chief of Operations
After joining the team at Specialists Hospital Shreveport, Devin Jenkins initially acted as the Nurse Manager over the Specialists Post Anesthesia Care and Pain Management Units. While maintaining an extensive clinical role at the hospital, he also completed is Masters in Health Care Administration at LSU-Shreveport and eventually transitioned into an administrative role in October 2013 and currently acts as our Chief of Operations. Devin actively assists the Board of Managers and Specialists Staff with the hospital’s continued expansion and growth, as well as, day to day operations. He and his wife Caryn, are the proud parents of two young children and are active in their church and community.
Devin is an avid cyclist and outdoor enthusiast.
