Val Irion, MD
Shreveport’s Own, Val Irion, MD, joined Orthopedic Specialists of Louisiana and Specialists Hospital Shreveport in 2013. In addition to specializing in arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder and knee, he is also fellowship trained in cartilage restoration procedures. Highly skilled in both surgical sports medicine and joint replacement, Dr. Irion provides comprehensive orthopedic care, treating patients of all ages and varying activity levels. As a lifelong athlete himself, he recognizes the importance of a healthy and consistent activity level throughout life and is committed to helping his patients maintain and pursue these goals. He is passionate about Mako Robotic Arm Assisted Total/Partial knee replacement and one of the handful of surgeons in Louisiana to perform Mako total/ partial robotic knee replacement.
Dr. Irion and his wife, Blair are the proud parents of three very active, young boys… which in turn, ensures a busy and active home life, too!

Kandi Moore, RN, CNOR
Chief Executive Officer
Since opening our doors in July of 2007, Kandi Moore has acted as Specialists Hospital Shreveport’s Chief Executive Officer. Kandi began working with the initial group of surgeons sixteen years ago and has helped grow the practice from a six man practice to a team of twenty one physicians focusing on the musculoskeletal system. She maintains great focus and tries to remain a step ahead in the ever changing health care landscape. Kandi works diligently with our physicians and oversaw the hospital’s 2015 addition of a state of the art observation wing to better service to our growing patient population. She also serves as the Vice President of Louisiana Hospital Association, is a Board member for the Caddo Levee District, a member of the Shreveport Economic Development Committee and active in the Rotary Club of Shreveport.
Kandi and her husband, Rusty Moore, are blessed to share a blended family with three sons, one daughter and five beautiful grandchildren. They love time on their farm and camping adventures with their family and friends.
Chief Financial Officer
Misty Cooper was named Chief Financial Officer at Specialists Hospital Shreveport in November 2019. Misty previously served as controller and as revenue cycle manager for the hospital.
Misty is responsible for the finance and accounting, supply chain, materials management, revenue cycle, risk management and health information management.
Misty and her husband, Quincy, are the proud parent of two daughters. Misty enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and crafting, when time allows.
